Fertilization and Soil Maintenance
The importance of fertilization is the most overlooked item in tree health in our modern urban society. In a forest, decomposing leaves and fallen twigs supply the tree with essential nutrients but that is not the case with urban trees. They often compete with lawns, shrubs and decorative plants for nutrients. At Baxley, our tree care professionals have a deep understanding of North Carolina’s trees and plants and the needs of each to thrive in your yard.
Cabling and Bracing
When a tree has a structural defect or condition that poses a high risk of failure, which may result in injury or property damage, a supplemental support system can often reduce the risk. Cables and brace rods are supplemental structural supports intended to reduce the risk of failure of weak branches and multiple stems. Cables generally consist of extra high strength steel and are attached to bolts installed in the upper crown of a tree. They are intended to limit the movement of the supported branches so they are less likely to fail during storms. Braces are thread rod that are installed through unions of weak branches and multiple stems to provide more rigid support from torsional (twisting) forces that can occur in violent weather. At Baxley, our tree experts are able to evaluate your needs and apply the best solution to protect your valuable property and provide you with a sense of assurance.
Pruning/Storm Damage Assessment
In forests, dead or unsound branches are taken off by the forces of nature but this can be disastrous in urban areas, causing damage to homes, cars and other items. At Baxley, our arborists are trained to assess trees for pruning related to aesthetics, tree health, storm damage and safety. By routinely cleaning out dead branches, thinning out growths that are structurally unsound or too close to utilities and removing branches that are too low (raising) you are helping to increase the beauty, value and safety of the trees on your property.
Pest and Disease management, Inspection: Hundreds of insect species damage leaves, stems, and branches; roots; and flowers and fruit of landscape plants however, not all insects on trees and shrubs are damaging. Some are beneficial and may help pollinate flowers or could be predators or parasites on insects that damage plants. Baxley arborists are trained to correctly identify these beneficial insects and mites and can devise effective management programs that protect landscape plants from serious damage while conserving beneficial organisms.
Diseases are abnormalities in trees and shrubs caused by microorganisms such as fungi and bacteria and by environmental stress such as drought, temperature extremes, and air pollution. Diseases are often difficult to diagnosis as different causal agents can produce similar symptoms. Baxley arborists have the skills and knowledge to accurately diagnose your plants problems and develop an effective treatment program.
